A Retail EPoS System And Ecommerce

Ecommerce, or electronic commerce, or e-commerce is simply defined as ‘doing business over the Internet’. Your success will depend on which tactics you employ, the design of your website and your retail EPoS system, or electronic point of sale system.

Like any business, ecommerce has a set of rules. This article should help you to follow these rules and make the most of your online business.

The Dos

You sales that you have on your site is proportional to the number of clicks it takes to reach the end of the sale. If it takes more than three stages to complete a transaction there is a high abandonment rate among customers, and you will lose the sale. Hence, keep the navigation as simple as it is possible.

You should check that all of your internal links on the website are working. Do this regularly so you can find out when a link fails.

Do name your links appropriately so that people can understand it and remember it well. For example, for a page of your website that sells red hats, name the link pointing at it ‘red hats’ and not ‘crimson head wear’.

Keep the website simple and the language readable so that customers can use it clearly.

Keep the availability of an item early in the navigation process. If customers have to go through the sales transaction only to find that the item they wanted is out of stock, you will turn them away from your business. Remember your businesses success, especially in the early stages, will depend on repeat customers and word of mouth advertising.

What Not To Do

Do not use too large pictures on the site; they make the loading very slow. And avoid flash technology where possible because many computers will not handle it well.

Do not use out of date or over simplified retail technology because it will make the sales process complicated. Choose instead a retail EPoS package which will connect every aspect of your business and make each process more streamlined.
